State Board of Schooling member Ken Edmunds is leaving his position to turn out to be the new director of the Idaho Division of Labor.

Gov. Butch Otter’s workplace announced the move on Friday.
Edmunds last day with the board will be Nov. 25, the very same day he transitions to his new state work.
Edmunds succeeds retiring Idaho Division of Labor Director Roger Madsen.
“Ken’s many years on the Board of Training and his private-sector experience will be critically critical in positioning the Department of Labor to advance its collaborative efforts with the education and economic development communities and Idaho employers,” Otter said in a written statement.
Within his position on the State Board of Schooling, Edmunds served as chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee.
Before Edmunds leaves his submit, state board members will convene a special meeting Monday in Moscow to think about a new president for the University of Idaho.
Otter initial appointed Edmunds, of Twin Falls, to the State Board of Training in Could 2008. His place on the eight-member board was not due to expire until 2018.
